What is Sports Injury Therapy?

Sports Injury Therapy combines the skill set of Massage Therapy and the additional critical skill sets from related Sports Medicine Professions. It is the prevention, emergency care and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

Sports injury therapy focuses on techniques such as, deep tissue massage, muscle energy, strain-counterstrain, myofascial release, joint mobilization and athletic taping and bracing support. Therapeutic modalities such as, ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation, interferential current, cold LASER therapy are also used to ensure their patients can safely return to physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

Sports Injury Therapists are often seen working with athletes during sporting events. They do not only work with sport injuries and recreational injuries. They may also treat motor vehicle accidents injuries.
